Slick 8 Effects Picture-in-Picture Pro Slick Picture-in-Picture Pro is a versatile tool to overlay movies or graphic images on top of a movie clip. The first step is to select a clip on the timeline. This will be the background clip that will be used for the Picture-in-Picture effect. The next step is to select the Picture-in-Picture Pro name in the list of Effects, and click the Configure button, The custom dialog box window will appear. Select a video clip or still image that you wish to use for the overlay by clicking on the "+" button. This overlay will appear in a rectangular box. To select a mask, click on one of the provided masks. There are thumbnail images to see an example of each mask. The Edge slider is used to soften the edge of the mask. To position the overlay, drag the box to the desired location. By default, the overlay image/movie and mask will move together. To have them move independently, uncheck the "Mask position same as overlay" box and select either the "Position overlay" or Position mask" checkbox. To resize the overlay, use the size slider. By default, the overlay image/movie and mask will scale together. To have them scale independently, uncheck the "Mask size same as overlay" box. Use the Size slider to change the scale. The Opacity slider turns the overlay semi-transparent if this effect is desired. The "Use overlay as background" reverses the overlay and background. When this option is selected, the clip on the timeline becomes the picture-in-picture overlay. This is useful if there is a speaker or newscaster on the timeline and you want them to appear in a corner of the combined clip. Click the OK button once all of the Picture-in-Picture Pro parameters are set. The main Effect In/Out sliders are used to adjust the fade in/out of the picture-in-picture. The last steps are to click the OK button and Apply the effect in the main iMovie window. |
