Slick 8 Transitions

Morph

Slick Morph creates a smooth transformation from one image into another. This can used in a number of fun ways!

Morph works best between two still images, but can also be used to create a variety of transitions between motion video.

Also see Slick Warp to create a similar effect over a single clip.

Morph Configuration dialog

The "flow" of a morph is set by control points on a mesh. Each point on the mesh has a position on the In and Out sources. Change the location of the mesh points to similar features in each image.

First, set the color and size of the mesh. Use a color that is visible on both the outgoing and incoming image. A larger mesh will give you finer control over the morphing action, but will take more time to configure as there are more points.

The modified grid will stretch and shrink the outgoing image to match the corresponding control points on the incoming image.

A composite image of the transition is displayed in the lower left image. This is very useful as you experiment moving various control points.

Since setting up the mesh control points can take some time, you can save those settings and load them to use at a later time.

Note - if using iMovie 3.x, hold down the option key when clicking on the Morph transition to bring up the custom dialog box.
