Tips on Creating PDF Files
Creating a PDF is OS X is as simple as selecting the
Save as PDF button when printing a document. Using a PDF give you lots
of creative control in creating your title virtually any application
can be used. Anything that can be printed can be made into a PDF. So
have fun.
Here are some tips when creating PDFs for use the Slick plug-ins.
- Font size will need to be larger than a normal
text document. Also, san-serif fonts tend to look better when used
in video.
- If planning to use a transparent background, make
sure that the text color will stand out against the video clip. Using
a shadow for text may help.
- If a transparent background is desired and graphics
are in the PDF, make sure that the graphic image has a transparent
background. Otherwise a white box will appear around edges of the
graphic.
- Some applications work better than others in creating
PDFs with a transparent background. For example, Preview creates a
white background on documents. But Microsoft Word creates documents
with a transparent background. So you may need to experiment with
different applications to get the desired results.
- Page size can make a difference. If a long seamless
title is desired, set up a custom page size to be very long. This
way the printer margins will not create spaces between pages. The
same goes if you would like to have PDFs with a landscape orientation.
